Organization Design has long been a discipline relegated to the back burner. "We're not there yet." "We have more immediate priorities." "What's the point? As soon as we make changes the world will have changed again." These and similar comments have been all too common. As a result, not consciously designing how people, processes, technologies, and culture all work together to flex to meet ongoing changes in industry, talent markets, overarching economy, etc. has been costly to both individuals and organizations. Overwhelming workloads, burnout, and resignations lead to dropped balls, low quality, low productivity, declines in safety, disengagement, poor customer satisfaction , and poor business performance. Things, however, do not have to be this way.
